The International Conference on Banana 2020 (ICB 2020) aims at bringing together global researchers on banana improvement, production and protection from leading academic institutes and research organizations and other stakeholders. Banana is one of the most widely consumed fruits and is a source of livelihood to resource poor farmers in the tropics and subtropics. Banana cultivation around the world is facing serious problems due to climate change induced abiotic stresses and other vagaries of nature. Foc TR4 is a major threat faced by several leading banana producing countries. This International Conference on Banana aims to take stock of the present state of banana cultivation and the attendant problems. It provides an interdisciplinary forum for researchers, entrepreneurs and other stakeholders for discussing the threats and challenges faced in banana breeding, production, crop protection, postharvest processing, value addition and waste utilization in the era of climate change. The Conference will comprise concurrent sessions on identified themes and a plenary session to identify research gaps and recommend mitigating strategies and solutions. A Satellite Workshop on Foc TR4, the most dreaded banana disease that has recently invaded India, will be conducted on the sidelines.
